Default Best streetable rear..

Just blew my rear last weekend and was wondering what the best daily driver rear would be? But also can handle about 620hp at the track when spraying it. Always turn my traction control off when i get in my car so should i not get the traction control option with the rear?? 33 splines?

Do a search, a lot of 9 inch and 12 bolt users.

I am not at your power level so anything I add won't mean anything to you.

9 inch rears have been known to handle 1000hp and up at the track. And theres nothing wrong with daily driving it either.

i'd say split the difference and go with a detroit locker - sturdier than a posi and doesn't bark the tires around turns like a spool - you will have to deal with the clicking around slow turns tho

detriots will lock in a turn anytime you give it gas.

best dd rear would be the 12 bolt, best track rear is the 9in. I would say get the 9in at your power level. because you will only go up in power and not down. do it once and do it right. for me my 12 bolt is fine but you have a lot more power.

Definately 9in! I don't recommend a spool at all. It sucks to drive on the street, assuming you drive it often. I'm shortly going to switch to a detroit trutrac. I've had several recommendations from this board, so I trust member feedback.

I'm putting my new 9 together as we speak. I went with a spool, I wanted a rear that I would never have to think about again. I figure with a spool and 35 spline axles it would be pretty tough. I'll let you know how it drives when I get done.

I don’t spray so it’s not the same. But my Strange 12-bolt is just as good on the street as the stock rear. A couple of hundred passes with 60-ft. in the 1.65 range without any problems. My opinion is that you might as well keep the ABS. Why not since it doesn’t cost any extra (I sent in my old axles for them to pull of the reluctor rings)? If you ever want the ABS, it will be there. Its almost impossible to redo it later if you don’t do it now. And, you won’t have problems with warning lights that your ABS is inoperable which you will get if you don’t get it.

I would get a 9" for sure.
As far as the differential there are several options.
I ran a spool in my daily driver and it wasn’t bad at all.
A lot of how much "chirping" is determined by how stiff the tires sidewalls are.
With my MT DRs you couldn’t even tell I had a spool.
At that power level, spraying, with slicks I would stay away from a posi.

Best advice I can give is find someone in your area and go for a ride.
Only you can determine if a spool is for you.

Get a Locker or a spool, dont even mess with Posi's in my opinion. I have daily driven them both and they are not even close to as bad as most make them out to be.

lockers arent the best option for your m6, auto they rock, but a locker will dis-engaged during your shift, only for a moment, if u had a a slower car, u might not notice, but at that power level u will have a problem going down the track with a locker losing its *** a little, if u had 400hp i would say cool, and auto keeps the locker engaged at all time........a spool is not a very good street option, since your conrering will be comprimised, remember what streetable to one might be hell to another, best bet is to find a car that has a spool and drive it....pull in and out of your driveway with it, turn around in a parking lot with it, you might have to make a multi-point turn and it may not be something you wont.......or go with a 9", they are easy to swap centers on, and run a spool @ the track and swap it out for a posi on the street, if you go to the track a few times a years this is the best of both worlds, you could do the swap, in a few hours, hell i have heard of guys at the track swapping in under an hour, but i sure as hell couldnt pull that off....m6 just need a little bit different setup-just like MT says not to run the ET drags on a m6 too.....i do but they still rrecommend the ET street.....

What's the point of getting a 9" if you don't get the spool?

Lets say that your going on the highway about 75mph with a Detroit Locker, and your have the gas floored, and you go to switch lanes while the gas pedal is still floored. How would the locker act?

If it only locks up on turns when you give it gas, then it can't be too bad. The posi in my 12 bolt gave after about 3000 miles of daily driving, so I dont want to get another posi. I am considering the True Trac or the Locker?

If you switched lanes at 75 with a locker you would not notice the difference from that and a posi. The only time it ever gets a little jumpy on me is when i take a turn really tight. Just have to learn to drive it right in that sort of situation.
