12 bolt question... I have a 12 bolt from a Chevy PU truck. Anybody know about how much it would cost to have it converted so it will work on my SS? I don't really need it but it would be nice having a backup rear-end just in case.
Re: 12 bolt question... You would probably end up spending as much as it would cost to just buy a complete assembly from Moser.
-have to narrow the axle tubes.
-have to have custom axles made
-Probably would want to upgrade to a 33-spline Eaton instead of the typical smaller spline stocker
-have to have a custom mount fabricated to mount the torque arm to
-need to purchase the brake backing plate mounts to mount your disk brakes
-need to have the spring perches, and LCA brackets custom made to fit
So, in other words, it would be a pain in the ***, and alot of running around and time wasting. The truck 12-bolt and f-body 12-bolts you are comparing only share the internal dimensions. The casing on the f-body kits are built specifically for our cars and have the torque arm mounting points cast into the housing itself like the stock rear.
