3.73's are being installed as I type this. We'll see how it goes. My friend runs 4.10's in his A4, and he had to get his car tuned and rev limit raised because he was hitting OD right before the traps. He also ended up going with a 28" tire IIRC to help.

I like my 3.42's. Good for highway cruising: 2500rpm @ 80mph, car is very responsive in town, and first gear is low for a good 60'.

I have 3.73's. They are great because you use 1, 2, and almost all of 3 at the track. Stog and go is nice because you barley tap the gas and it moves. I'm at like 2700? at like 75 mph. With full exhaust, ls6 intake, and 3.73's I got 26 mpg going 75 mph. 3.73's are the best gear for the a4 IMO

I have 4.10's in my A4. I love them and the car is significantly quicker. Traction is an issue, though, and on the highway at 60, i am around 2500 rpms. At 80mph, i am around 3000 rpms. It's a little steep on the highway but i don't frequent it often.

I have 3.73s right now in my car...but it is maxxed out going through the traps. Might actually be slowing me down.

Do you guys think going to 3.50s would hurt much?

How are you guys with 3.73s and 4.10s trapping so high in auto cars? 28" tall tires? Revving to the sky?

I want to keep 26" tall tires and ~6100 rev limit, so I guess my only option is to drop down a gear size.

Well,..... I've made the SWAP in my Moser 9" when we narrowed it 6" in March 08
I went from 3.70 gears & 26" tires to a set of 4.71 Gears & 28" tires.
Yeah, BIG Difference. I changed my shift points to 7400 RPM and I'm crossing @ 7550 in 3rd.
My Limiter is set to 7800 with Morel High RPM Lifters.
It launches like a Bat-Outta-Hell and it's still N/A.
I'm waiting on a set of All Pro Heads to replace the AFR 225's that are currently on the SS.
Seems like they're petering out around 6800 RPM. So, the changes continue.

I'm still working with a "STOCK" Cubed Forged LS-1 built by Futral Motorsports and an FLT Level 5 4L65E Tranny.
3560 plus lbs and N/A. Looking for a BIG improvement when the heads are replaced.

3.91s in my old 10 bolt = Noisy
3.91s in my Moser 12 bolt = Noisy

It pulls like a freight-train compared to my old 2.73s, but I'm seriously considering getting 3.73s in to quiet it down (it's my DD). I have enough problems with traction as it is anyways.

I'm torn between the 3:73s and the 3:42s.........

I think I'm leaning more towards the 3:42s....the car will see more street/expressway duty than strip time.

Update: Switched to 3.73s in the same 12 bolt, and it quieted down _a lot_.
