Ported MAF ends
I had Ed Wright set my trans line pressure to vary directly with my throttle position sensor (TPS). This way, you're always sure to get max line pressure at WOT.
I've had ported MAF's on 3 of my 4th Gen's and drive the shat out of them and never had a problem.
I've read some people saying they've heard of this but no one has posted any readings from A -tap and proven the MAF air flow is directly responsible for clutch/line pressure and related trans failure.
It is my understanding a lot of varibles/sensors control line pressure, most notably, throttle position when PCM is in open loop, is the main input. The MAF reading is not directly responsible for line pressure in OBD-II, but is related to over all PCM equation.
I'd always figured one of the aftermarket MAF makers started the rumor to control cheaper ported MAF's outselling thier $300+ units.
If you have some hard data or info supplied by Ed Wright or anyone else on how MAF reading controls line pressure, please post as I don't want to be replacing a trans in the near future. At the same time, I don't want to get rid of my MAF on an internet rumor.

<strong>I'm having some Trans. problems how can you tell or know if it has to do will ported maf ends on an A4 car.Or what are the problems they give to A4 cars? <img src="images/icons/confused.gif" border="0"> </strong><hr></blockquote>
Really would help to know what problems
you're having? The ported MAF battle is
still that, a battle. A little more info
would help

PCM problem. Can you run a-tap and check
voltage at part throttle. Other option is
voltage of TPS sounds like possible low
pressure way beyond ported MAF. Irun a ported
and have no problems <img src="images/icons/confused.gif" border="0">
