Motive gears (2 & 3 cut)
I remember reading something a while back about how motive had two different kinds of gears or something, a two cut gear, and a three cut gear. If any of you know, what it the difference and which is the best??? Thanks.

The older style was a 5 cut style, the new style is a 2 cut.
Both are fine, the 2 cut is just easier to manufacture.
Both styles have a particular optimal contact pattern; don't confuse them or the gear set will be noisy.

no,
the 2 cut style forms a "bias" pattern in the teeths; with a 5 cut style you look for a symmetrical pattern.
When you add shims to the pinion it will move the pattern in a specific way depending on the style.
What I want to say it's that both styles are fine, but you need to know how to adjust the particular set you have. The adjustments for one style are different than those for the other one. If you use the wrong strategy you end up screwing up the gears.
