Default gear oil for 98 trans am?

I've been researching what gear oil to use in my rearend with mixed results. Some say use synthetic others say do not? I bought royal purple 75w90, should I exchange it for some non-synthetic?

Are you sure its ok to use with the auborn diff?

Not according to Auburn themselves.

yea thats what i've heard but they seem to be the only ones who have a problem with using it.
