Default Gun drilled axles

How much lighter do they make things. I know that it is rotating mass which less is better. I am about to buy a 9in and I was most likely going to opt for these. Also what gear is just down from a 3.50? I have 3.42s now and don't wan't to go higher if I can help it.

Im not sure of the exact weight but any weight you can shave off of your rotating mass is good.
I opted for the gun drilled option on my 9".

Also are there any issues known with driving gun drilled axles on the street?

Any axle manufacture will tell you that gun drilled axles are not for street driven cars.

you will save about 4.4 lbs. per axle by having them gun drilled and star flanged. this is for a standard length f-body axle from Moser.

Moser at first only offered the aluminum center section, and they have never had one that they know of break. I agree with everyone above, don't go for the gun drilled axles on the street, unless it's basically a track only car. Go for the aluminum center section instead. With aluminum center section, price including shipping is $2,500.00. Bob

If its a stret car I wouldnt run a Alum. center section the weight isnt worth the reduced life of ring and pinion...Also it wouldnt be a bad ideaif you do choose a alum center section to have the set up re checked once theres some miles on it alum will move around enough to warrant a double check
