Roaring from rear

My car has 101k miles on it (98 model) and makes a dull roaring kind of sound that is simultaneous with the rotation of the rear wheels. It's not the wheels being out of balanced or the tires (new tires and had them balanced, neither fixed the problem).

Could the axle bearings be the culprit? Would there be anything else that would cause the noise? I'd rather just fix it than try to drown it out by using a little more throttle.

Carrier bearings are usually the problem, but with that many miles I would opt. for a whole rebearing job.

Yes, bearings
Replace all six bearings plus races. Mine were pitted at 58k

Cant u just get the bearing from NAPA?? or something like that?

I know you can buy several of the bearings from local auto places, but I think I am just going to buy a kit from Thunder Racing and replace all the bearings.

My rear is roaring too. It seemed to happen when i first moved my car after i changed over to ZR1 wheels. It was quiet before wheels, then wheels and noise....so i put the stockers back on and it still made noise. Strange coincidince? So, im just enduring it now. Here in a bit im going to get a 9" and forget about the whole damn rear end all together for the life of the car. Im tired dogleg turns under acceleration, and constantly worrying about the rear pipe-bombing.
