Default 12 bolt from a junk yard?

I see some 12 bolts in all kinds of trucks. Are they all basically the same size? Is it possible to get one to fit in an fbody? I don't see me spending $2K for one. These could be real cheap. I would of course change all the stuff inside. So I'm wondering about sizes. Someone educate me.

figure out a way to mount your suspension (Torque arm, LCAs, PHR, etc and you are good.

LCAs and PHR are easy, I don't know of a cost effective way to do the torque arm <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

by the way, whats a yunk yard <img border="0" alt="[chug]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_chug.gif" />

I can weld some brackets on there for the torque arm. I guess next time I see one I'll look for differences. I was just checking one out yesterday. I can't believe companies charge $2000+ for those brand new.

You'll have to do some fabrication. You'll need to weld on brackets for the coil springs, shocks, torque arm, pan hard rod, and lower control arms. Keep in mind if you're going to make lots of power you'll need bigger axles and probably a different diff possibly even different gears. Also don't forget that when you're welding these brackets/mounts on you have to make them so that the yoke is at the correct angular orientation with the driveshaft because pinion angle is pretty important. For me it was worth it to spend the $2k and have someone else worry about all the fabrication. I could have handled the assembly but hell it was just as cheap to buy it assembled (short of having the axles in the thing and filling it with fluid). Just my $.02
