<strong>If you're pulling a rear from an LT1 car and want to use the LS1 brakes, you'll need to remove the LS1 backing plates and bolt them on to the LT1 rear end. The backing plates are different, but the rest of the rear looks to be the same.

There may be some clearance issues...
You can put an ABS LS1 rear in an ABS LT1 car, but you cannot mix them up. LT1's have two ABS/TCS sensors mounted on the end of each axle bolted to the backing plate, reason being the sensor rings are on the end of each axle as well. As to where the LS1 sensor ring is located in the differential so the sensor plugs in on top of the differential.
I have installed an LS1 rear on my buddy's LT1 by swapping the axles, and bolting on the sensors. Everything worked, but if you tried to mix up the combo w/ a non TCS car and a TCS car things could get complicated or not even worth the trouble

Also, the Wheel Speed Sensors are mounted to the backing plates. The WSS's are used for ABS and traction control in this case.
The sensor in the middle of the pumpkin is an ABS sensor, which is only used on cars without traction control.
