Are Moser 12 Bolts junk?

Are Moser 12 Bolts junk? When the Moser 12 bolt hit the scene, we all seemed to see it as a blessing, but in many cases it has been nothing but a headache for alot of people. Broken posi's, gear whine/breakage, and leaks are some of the biggest problems. Whats your opinion of it?

Re: Are Moser 12 Bolts junk? If you knew that the components inside a Moser rear-end are the same components found inside Strange and KTRE, would you still blame Moser for broken posi's, gear whine etc?
The only thing that is "Moser" in a Moser 12-bolt, is the housing. Everything else is the same components found in any other 12-bolt housing.

Re: Are Moser 12 Bolts junk? Posi was not strong enough for my M6 02 Z28. Going with a spool, this should solve my rear end problems. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Re: Are Moser 12 Bolts junk? Sorry, but the only thing that is not made by Moser in their rears in the bearings, gears, and the Posi. The axles and the housings are made Moser. The bearings are made by Green Bearings, the posi's are Auburn or Eaton.
I'm fairly happy with mine. I have had problems with leaking at every piece that I did not personaly assemble. But I have taken care of that. I did have and wheel bearing fail after about 8 months, which I thought was a little early, but that had been about it. Now their tech support leaves a little to be desired. have yet to call them with a question that seemed to me to be a pretty simple question for someone that built the damn thing. I've asked, what size tool is needed to remove the factory fill plug, how much fluid does it hold, what is the part number for the wheel bearing.

I've had a Strange (first) then a Moser....IMHO both are strong diffs when setup properly..33spline,etc...BOTH companies are hit/miss on their ring gear pinion setup...My new Strange HOWLED and I took it out...I had the Moser blueprinted but it still makes a slight whine at 60-70mph...not bad but not OEM either...Until someone makes an OEM quality ring gear/pinion it will never be perfect on a consistent basis.

Re: Are Moser 12 Bolts junk? I've got a Moser on order and am looking forward to it! A friend of mine got a Moser last summer and beat on it from day 1. It was installed late one night, the following day a group of us drove about 500 miles to Kearney and raced the next day. His does have some gear whine, but what do you expect when you break it in on the highway <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
