Default questoin for those running 9inch with detroit locker

what gear lube are u running???

some are saying to run 75-90 and posi additive

others are saying to use a synethic and not use posi additive

i hope to be putting mine in today, and wanted to konw what gear oil i should go with! thanks

85-140 the thicker oil will help keep the chatter of the locker down

i konw this sounds bad, but somebody said a detroit locker was a spool, i always thougth they were posi, and called a good friend of mind thats an engineer at a tranny company and builds rearends he said that they are posi


should i use posi additve? or are u saying 85-140 synthetic

no its not a posi nor a spool. it actully has two halves that ratecht together. you dont have to add an additive at all. you can use dino or synthetic its really up to you. if its brand new though i wouldnt break it in on synthetic oil id start with regular oil
