Default 12 bolt soon stick with 3.73?

i just got back from racing a 05 viper srt10 with my TA A4 (408 stroker stock heads). this was from cruising at 80 mph. needless to say he took me by about 4 car lengths up to 140 mph. right now i have 3.73 gear with 3400 TC. i need to replace my 10 bolt real soon. my low end is nothing short of ridiculous i cant hold ground till 45 mph with 275/35/17 wheels. and i want to stick with those wheels. im not worried about losing a little low end my question is will my car be "faster" top end with say 3.23 gears? i want more "pull" up top at those speeds so what do you guys think i should switch my gearing to?

I don't think 3.23 gears are the answer if you wanna hang with a new viper. You need an M6 with 3.73s. Get used to seeing license plates if you are going to continue racing from an 80 roll with an auto.

well thanks anyway but im not looking for M6. i mean i could always beat the viper by gettings new heads, nos or boost too but i just wanna know if numerically lowering the gear will give more top end

You would theoretically get a higher top speed (and better mpg), but your time getting there will get longer not get shorter.

I'd keep the gears and maybe go to a higher stall with less STR. What is the STR of your current converter? Either that or add more HP which also increases the stall speed. Something that would stall at about 4000 mated with that engine with a 2.0 STR would be nice in my opinion. I could be just talking out my *** though.
