rear end question

Difference is ring gear size and design. The 9" is a Ford design part. The 12 bolt is GM.
Moser 9" F body - the entire center section unbolts and comes out. You can setup and change gear ratios very easy, by having 2 different center sections. They are around 30-40 lbs heavier than the Moser 12 bolt and do suck more power (drivetrain lose) because of the pinion angle
Moser 12 bolt F body - 8.875" ring gear, design is just like your 10 bolt only bigger. Has less drivetrain lose than the 9".
For ultimate strength the 9" wins, but I will tell you I have customers with 700+ rwhp that track their car all the time and don't have a problem with the 12 bolt rears. I would say you would want to upgrade if you are making in the 900+ rwhp range or if the fast gear change option is something you need. Say have a 4.56 center section for the track and maybe a 3.70 or 3.50 gear ratio for the street. However this option cost you another $1000-$1400 because you need a complete setup center section ready to go. Also if retaining ABS is a major concern the 9" can only retain ABS/TCS (4 channel). With the 12 bolt you can retain either 4 channel or 3 channel ABS. If you have any other questions email or PM me

Not really, although you will get a Moser rear-end much faster than you would receive a Strange rear-end. Moser ships their rears two days after the order is received, so you see the rear in approx one week. Strange on the other hand, takes three weeks or longer. Bob
