How many miles do you have on your car? That should be covered... what are you mods to your car? Unless you have done something to the rear end of the car or some like major to the engine it is covered... under factory warranty.

I have 26000 miles on it. The service manager said it was not covered because it could not have happened under "normal driving conditions". He said he would be happy to look at it for a $60.00 check out fee, but I figured why pay to have them tell me what I already know. I will use the $60.00 towards the purchase of a new axle... Do you have an ammo I can use to get it covered??? Thanks!!!

BTW --- No mods yet. Completely stock...

Normal driving conditions. That varies from SM to SM. My dealer replaced my transmission, clutch and my driveline. They also replaced another club member's rear end. All of these parts wore out under "normal dragstrip conditions" Go to a different dealer. Talk to the SM over the phone. Let him know that you are not abusing the car, and that you expect a new rear end. Every dealer is different. Sometimes large dealers have more clout with GM factory warantee managers. Somtimes small dealers will push their luck with the factory Warantee staff, so they can get the work and bill the work. It all depends. Keep trying. If all else fails escalate to the regional service manager.

Good luck.

Default Rear Axle

Just wanted to see if anyone could tell me where to purchase a replacement rear axle for my '01 SS. I had it in the shop on Friday for brake work and my mechanic said the rotor was warped, but the axle also appears to be bent. He gauged it at arbout .10-.12 off. I checked with the dealer and they will not cover it under warranty and an OEM replacement is over $300.00. I heard about Moser and found a part number on LS1speed.com but my question is are these the right choice and are they a direct OEM replacement? Thanks guys!!!
