Default 1-2 shift slipping

I have an 02 Silverado with a whipple. It dynoed at 337/378 and has a custom superchips tune which is supposed to include a line pressure increase. The truck has less than 10k mi and the conv. is stock. It never shifted great but lately it seems to "glide" into 2nd at WOT instead of a firm shift. I know this is really hard on it so I have been trying to take it easy til I can figure out what to do. Any suggestions for making 2nd gear hold better?? (servo, etc)

I would definitely try a real shift kit, like a Trans-Go. If that doesn't help, you may have a bigger issue...

The problem with adding a shift kit is his custom programming. Unless you can take the increased line pressure out of the program, he'll burn out the pump. Programming + Shift kit generally don't mix.

Did you get the whipple installed at MC Racing? I think I remember them installing a whipple on a Silverado recently.

Thanks for the replies so far. No, Denz-I put the whipple on myself-bought the truck like Oct 28 and by Nov 15 it was charged!

I talked to level ten today (I have had good luck out of their stuff in the past) and they seemed to act like this is a fairly common prob. They said their "hydrosystem" which is some sort of shift kit, would fix me up. I told them about the programming and they thought it would be OK to use them together. I went ahead and ordered it so I can see what comes in the box-they wouldn't divulge much about the specifics so if I don't like what I see I will send it back. Any body else have any ideas? Any body else had the same problem?

4L80E?

Cool, sounds like you had a good plan. My car didn't stay stock long either

Just for everybodys info-I put in the level 10 shift kit. I followed the ****-*** directions step by step (all that the kit consists of is 2 springs) and and then you enlarge 4 holes in the separator plate. The directions said to enlarge one of the holes to .125 and the other 3 you have the choice of .093 for performance or .125 for "high" performance so I went .125 on all 4. It cured the 1-2 problem but created a 2-3 flair up. After several calls to level 10 I could not get any help whatsoever so I got online and did some searching around. I learned that a 2-3 flair on a 700r4 or 4l60e is almost always caused by the 2-3 feed hole being enlarged bigger than .093! This is the hole level 10 said to drill .125 So I bought a new plate from the dealer and drilled all 4 holes to .093 and it works good-all probs seem to be fixed. Now, out of curiosity I called level 10 back and asked them if they thought drilling the 2-3 hole to .125 could be the cause of the flair up. The guy put me on hold and then came back and said "yeah, you need to drill all four holes to .093-the instructions are wrong. " I was like WTF? $150 for 2 springs and uselees instructions? Oh well, at least the tranny works now. Sorry for the rambling-just venting a little.

That's great-they knowingly sell the product with the wrong directions????

Good update.

I'd ask them for the cost of the dealer plate since their instructions are wrong.
