need your advice on rear...

need your advice on rear... Ive got a ss3600 2.5 str on the way. After i install it id like to go to the track.
The thing is i cant have my rear blow up on me. If i cant launch hard, ill never get a low ET. After i install the converter, I was thinking to do more suspension mods...
Should i just start saving money for a 12-bolt and get it over with? The rear i have is a 2.73 thats making noise. I hate the 2.73's.
What would you do?
