want to change auburn fluid myself.....need help
Im nearing 7000 miles on my 02 ss w/auburn rear. I would rather not have dealer touch my car any more than neccesary. Could anyone give me detailed instructions on how to and what I need, or any potential problems I may face. I have heard horror strories of dealers screwing auburns up. Thanks guys.

Jack up car, and support it on jack-stands. Take out cover bolts. Pry cover off and drain fluid out. Use some brake-cleaner to spray out any extra debris/old scummy fluid from the diff. Scrape gasket surfaces. Apply RTV to cover and re-install. Remove allen-headed fill-plug on side of pig. Fill pig with diff-oil and friction-modifier until it starts coming back out hole (about 2 quarts with the friction modifier IIRC). Re-install fill-plug. Set car back on ground and drive. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Free tip: If you don't have the proper hex wrench to remove the fill plug, just find a bolt that will fit the plug. Then thread two nuts on the threaded end, jam them tight for an interference fit and then use this with a socket or box end wrench to remove the plug. Super glue or threadlock the threads on the nuts and they won't come loose while removing the plug.

Here's what SLP uses. (Y2K Auburn)
Gear oil = Quaker State SAE 80W-90EP High Performance Non-Synthetic [has a internal additive. Available at WalMart
GM Lubrizol #1052358
2oz - AutoX - More grip = More Noise
4oz - Street - Less grip = Less Noise
DO NOT use a gasket - defeats the properties of the cover
DO NOT use RTV sealant - Additives eat it and the cover will leak.
USE ONLY - SLP Approved Three Bond Silicone Gasket #1216.
Manufactured under license to Suzuki - Part #99104-31160
Available at Suzuki Motorcycle Dealer.
Or Suzuki Car dealer
Part#: 99000-31160 (Suzuki Bond No. 1216
