Default Eaton or Auburn

I am about to rebuild my 98 a4 rear end. I cant decide if I want an Auburn or an Eaton posi unit. I drive it on the street everyday and race on weekends. I am also putting in a 3:73 gear. What do you recomend eaton, auburn or something else.

Bump, for the same? see this is kind of old and i'm one of those stuck in the can't afford a 9" bracket and need to build my 10 bolt in the next few weeks

I vote for a Auburn PRO-SERIES carrier. They are pricey, but IMHO they are better than the eaton.

Have you gave a Detroit-Locker any thought? They are very streetable lockers and don't make that much noise.

I have heard that the torsen tr2 is very good for the f body car.

the eaton hands down wins, the torsen breaks, the auburn breaks. and the eaton might but it the only one thats rebuildable

I wouldnt recommend the Auburn to anyone I blew it to pieces w/ only 390RWHP launching on the street My buddy has the eaton in his LT1 and beats the **** out of it with no problems.

I chose the Auburn Pro Series. For about $100 they will replace it with a new, not rebuilt, unit if you break it within 4 years. For $100 all you get from eaton is the rebuild kit and you have to rebuild it yourself. Even then you still have a rebuilt not new posi.

There are a few guys on this board with A4's cutting 1.5x 60 fts that have a few hundred runs on these pro series posi's and they're still going strong. That was good enough for me. I'm cutting consistant 1.60 60 fts with mine and it's still together.

The original poster that asked the question has an A4. A M6 will break any posi in a 10 bolt. For an A4 that doesn't wheelhop, I will recommend the Auburn Pro.
