Shifter Rattle in 3rd Gear
OK, I brought my 2000 SS (with M6+Hurst) to the dealer today. They have rebuilt the M6 trans one time due to a wicked shifter rattle while accelerating in 3rd gear. The rebuild occured about 10K miles ago.
The shifter still rattles in third gear, but not as bad as before. So I rode around with the shop foreman today (Sullivan Chevy in Roseville CA.) and he tells me that the noise is normal. Especially with the Hurst shifters. "All the Manual Camaros make this noise to some extent with the Hurst shifter" So I asked why he rebuilt the transmission the first time if the noise was normal? No answer.
Is this a normal noise? Rattling or tapping noise under hard acceleration in time with engine RPM? Please help me out here.
Let me know how noisy your shifter is under hard acceleration.
