really need some help guys
Right now, I cant speed-shift into 3rd or 4th gear. However, this only happens if I am redlining the car. If I shift below 6k rpm, the gear engages just fine no matter how fast I shift.
Everything worked perfectly when the car went into storage 10 weeks ago. I am trying to figure out how to tackle the problem.
We have tried to set the engagement point as far off the floor as possible. This is what the guys at RAM suggested. Still doesnt help.
I am thinking about trying a new adjustable master cylinder and also changing to GM synchromesh.
I had my synchros and shift forks replaced not too long ago so the tranny itself should not be the problem. The fact that the problem is RPM related leads me to guess its something with the hydraulics.
Got any ideas for me?
"My mechanic says that when my clutch was installed, the installer didn't do the drill out mod on the master cylinder. He mentioned something about in 3rd gear and higher that the hose for the tranny fluid is half the size as the lower gears."
Basically, I wanted to know whether the fact this problem is RPM related could rule any options out. Does the transmission screw up only at high rpms or does the master only do it at certain rpms?
I am trying to rule things out.
