4.10s broke again!!!!
4.10s broke again!!!! This is the second time I have had richmond 4.10 break on me in less than a year. I have never ran sticky tires on either of them and have only drag raced 3 times with them. The first set of gears were actually stamped with the wrong backlash setting from richmond. They warrantied the first set and set out a second set, that were marked wrong again. After the installer called richmond they confirmed that the old set was marked wrong, and from the numbers of the ring and pinion of the second set they came up with the "right" backlash. 6 months later, after 30 miles on my new tsp 225 cam, I got on it a little bit and my rearend starts popping. Three teeth are missing off of the ring gear and there are broken spider gears in my auburn diff. 
I'm so frustrated that I'm not sure what to do. Auburn has a replacement plan off $220 for the diff but then I still have to get gears and have them installed. Any one else have this much trouble with after market gears in the 10 bolt. Sponsers, what kinda deals do you have right now on 12 bolts or 9 in ?

I've heard mixed reviews about the Richmond gears. Some love, most hate em. I mean, come on, they put improper lash settings on two sets in a row? What does that say about their service and qualtiy control?
I've got Strange 4.10's, installed them myself a year ago, and have zero issues. I have put a good 15k miles on them and have not been easy on them at all. I'd either go w/ a 12bolt/9" or go with a different brand gear.

Well I have been running Richmond for years and in many different applications, Only time did I had a issue, and that was when I had set them up incorrectly myself. I am currently running Richmond 4.10's and I ran these with .002 more lash than they stamped on the gears because of the abusive nature and the amount of the heat. I run Nitto 555r 305x25 series on 18" Weld EVO rims and they are very sticky. So sticky that last night I busted the Pinion spiders out of my Auburn Posi Pro with 4000 miles on it. They shipped out a new on this morning for $115.00. If I ever have to invest more than $250.00 into the rear end it will become a 9"
