How streetable would this be? I'm really thinking of a convertor upgrade. I have a bet with some ignorant fools about how quick my car can run without going internal. So, I am looking toward a convertor. I run at the track about once a month. I will step up to slicks over my BFG drag radials soon. I don't want to have to get a convertor, and decide I want something bigger later on, so I am thinking about getting the best to begin with: TP4400. I've heard that a good shop can program the computer to so that it is much tighter in town. Which shop would be best at this? I also need torque management deleted. So, would the TP4400 with 3.73s and a good tune be pretty streetable (locking up nice, throttle response, etc.)? I know that that depends on the person. I have not driven a car with a high stall, but I think that I can handle it. I'm a college student, so I can handle more than some. Also, what kind of gains at the track will that give over a stock car? Thanks a lot!
Re: How streetable would this be? If you get 3.73s and raise the part throttle shift points to ride 1st and 2nd gear longer and stay out of 4th until 35 mph you'll find that it is loose but livable. A quiet exhaust, like the stock WS6 exhaust really helps make it easier to adjust too.
The combo of YTP 4000/3.73s/slicks/tuning could drop anywhere from .7 to 1.0 off your current time. It just depends on how well your current set-up is doing.

Re: How streetable would this be? I second the recommendation on the Yank Pro Thruster...especially the PT4400. I would stick with 3.23 gears for a while. I've seen only about .05 (that's half a tenth) reduction in ET by going from 3.23s to 3.73 once you have the PT4400.

Re: How streetable would this be? I agree with Ragtop. The YPT4400 with 3.73s will still feel looser than the ST3500 and 3.23 gears, but it's not too bad. I drove the 4400 with 3.23 gears as a daily driver for a long time. Got on my nerves at times...at least until I stomped on the loud pedal. Wondering what you thought about the loosness of a YPT4400 with 3.42's. My previous combo was 2.73's and ST-3500, and im thinking they will be somewhat similar in terms of loosness? Thanks for any input <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

Re: How streetable would this be? I had the YTP 4000 with 3.23s. At first I didn't mind, but I grew tired of it. Then I switched to 3.73s and it felt much better. Others who drove the car noticed the improvement too. Had Edit been available and I had raised my part throttle shift points, then maybe I wouldn't have minded it with 3.23s. My current combo feels pretty good (4200 with 3.73s & raised part throttle shift points).
Car weight is a factor too. The lighter the car, the less loose it will feel.
