Default Rearend life expectency

How long can I expect a stock rear gear to hold up with a 6 speed and BFG Drag radials?
The car is a 01 SS Camaro that has run 13.30's with the Goodyear F1's.

Mine lasted for about 20 runs on DR's. I kept getting more aggressive until I snapped the left axle.

Save up for a 12 bolt so you'll be ready. It's all in how hard you launch in how long it lasts, but it won't last forever.

On my A4, I have made about 150 passes through the quarter. Car has H/C for few months or so. I launch my car hard with 3200 vig. and fortunately, rearends appears to be fine.

I was driving around yesterday, and during one of my 1-2 shifts i noticed a loud clunk noise come from the rear. I checked the rear for visual damage, but i saw nothing. Say it aint so?????

I made over 700 passes on my stock rear with my M6. Adout 500 of those on nittos. I just recently put in 3.73s, and my stock gears looked fine. The bottom line is how hard you launch. I leave around 3,300 and just lived with shorts in the 1.95- 2.00 range.

Mine broke yesterday, on what would have been its 23rd pass. I had heated up the Nittos well and the rear end broke as I dumped the clutch at 3,000 RPM. I never managed better than a 2.09 60-foot time... though that last run would have been. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Maybe if you launch the car M6 around a constant 1500 RPM'a your stock rear end may last longer. Just a thought.

I couldn't believe that you broke the rear on only a 3,000 dump. But the track was hooking pretty. Look at this way though, later down the road when you H/C you will already have the 12-bolt so it will take some real power. Keep your head up and it will be all good.

Well I had 390rwhp on my stock rear and never had a problem. In a year I maybe put 20 passes on it at the track and probably 20 on the street.. I leave around 2000rpm...
