Default Clunk Sound

In my previous post, I stated I heard a strange noise and felt a jerk when I was making a turn at the light. Tonight the same thing happened again. This time I heard "clunk clunk". Anyone have an idea what is causing this? It's obviously something in the rear end. I was able to drive home, but felt a serious loss in power. This sucks! All input appreciated.

I'd put the car on jackstands and pull the pumpkin cover and look for signs of obvious damage.

What about ... Dropped a C-Clip (U did just have new gears installed) When U turn the axle moves in and out. Friend U need to look inside of the rear end I would hate to read about U being killed from flipping or slinging an axle.

Post another post about this in the Texas section someone might be close enough to come over to help U look into this. Most of the Texas people sound like a great bunch and very helpfull!

Just had new gears installed? Are you sure limited slip additive was put in ? Just a thought.

The gears were installed two months ago, then installed again a month ago. They were not set up correctly the first time, and they weren't set up correctly the second time either. The shop that installed them, also put a non-synthetic 85w140 fluid in, and two tubes of limited slip instead of one. I drained the fluid after the second install and put in 75W90 synthetic with limited slip additive. I don't know what the hell the shop did to it after the second install, but it's far worse then it was after the first time. I maybe walking here soon. Don't have the money to buy a new set of gears and have an install done right this minute.

As far as opening the cover and looking at the differential goes, my first question is, will I have to take off the rear sway bar to open the cover? It is extremely close to the cover. Once I get it open, what's the first thing I should check? My apologies for all the questions, i'm trying to learn more about rearends and want to find out what is wrong with this thing.

Thanks for the input. I'll get this looked at asap. As far as driving my car, I'm trying not to anymore than I need to. I hate to have to park it, but may have to before too long. Broke <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> . No pun intended.
