Will it hold?

Will it hold? The rear bearrings were making all kinds of road noise so I had the shop replaced and while at it I had the shop install 4.10's The car has about 2K miles on it since the new bearings and the gears but when I launch it on the street (around 2,300 to 2,500 Rpm launches) the car gets absolutly no grip in 1st gear. The car launches the first 20-30 feet okay but then spins like crazy because of the gears (possibly because I'm not used to it yet) 
I know the track has more grip than the street but I'm considering going with a set of drag radials. It has the stock 10-bolt and all the horor stories has me questiong that decision...

2001 SOM Firehawk M6. SLP air lid, K&N filter, Pace setter Lt's, Off road X-pipe, TSP True duals, along with 4.10's.
I only go to the track once maybe twice a year and very rarely drive it hard... would/could/should I be okay
