Answers to misc. questions:

A lighter car reduces the flashes stall because the car starts moving sooner (and thus the converter output shaft speed is no longer 0 rpm). This reduces the hit to the tires by a small amount.

At a well prepped track a 10 bolt can last with ET streets, but many do bust. If you can't risk having to repair (or possibly replace) the rear, don't use ET Streets.

The 15" 275 BFG Drag radials may be able to handle the 4400 & 3.23s at a good track. Don't count on them lasting as they will need a good heating. ET Streets would be better.

Fot thte "time being" I am using BFGs on 16x8 takeoffs. What PSI should I run them at, how long should I smoke em for, and what stall speed should I rev it to before I launch?

Alright after getting everything squared away I got to drive my car tonight with the 4400 in it. Here's my honest opinion. I think that the converter could be called streetable, but a better word would be secondary vehicle. My car is my one and only car so thus it's my Daily Driver. If I didn't have 3:73's and Ed doing my computer so it locks up at 35 mph it wouldn't be liveable at all. It takes 3000 rpms to get moving with the traffic and about 3300 to 3500 to move away from traffic. In my opinion it's best to leave it in 3rd gear for in town driving especially stop and go driving. Does this sound right Ragtop? Anything else I should do to make it more driveable?

Yeah, anything else to make it more driveable? How about a manual lockup switch?

Snake: I leave it in 3rd gear around town too. I have Edit and raised my low TPS (0% - 25%) upshifts and that helps as staying in a lower gear tightens things up. Compared with the standard upshift points, I stay in 1st gear an extra 1-2 mph, in 2nd gear and extra 3-4 mph, and in 3rd an extra 5 mph.

Here's a few of my thoughts on this converter:

It's one of the best converters for these cars, bar none.

You need to have 3.73's or higher. Lower gears will be too loose for many.

ET Streets are necessary for this converter. Yes, you're taking a chance with the 10 bolt. But it's very frustrating, IMO, to go to the track and spin at the line. This converter will spin anything less than ET Streets at the track, let alone on the street. Yes, I broke a rear once, but made lots of passes without breaking after that on a 10 bolt with this combo.

I'm currently using the UT4800, and I'm returning to the 4400, despite my high revving motor. The 4400 is completely proven with lots of different setups.

Like lots of guys, I started with lower stalls, and continuously moved up, one at a time. If you want to go this route, that's fine. But it's not the cheapest route. My advice as a "hindsite" comment would be to get the TP4400 and be done with it.

Well said. With my mods, what RPMs will get the car "moving"?

The car will move a less RPM, but not like the rest of the traffic.
These are RACE converters.

And lordy do they work well.

All this converter talk is making me hungry. LOL

Its kind of fuzzy on which converter I want. It's a toss up between a sy3500, st3500, tp4000, and a tp4400. I can't make up my mind on which would be best for my set up. It's about to drive me ape ****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
