Why buy a 12 bolt or a 9" when you can make that 10 bolt strong for around $600?

i just don't see a 7.5-7.625 ring gear holding up to an m6 leaving the line at 5,000 +on the jug and actually lasting like a 9" no mater what "they" say.

It won't hold. It has been proven time & time again. Maybe in a A4 but definetly not in a M6. There is just too much force put on it in a 6-speed. Plus why waste $600 on a 10-bolt & then have it break. Save the money & your almost half way there to a good rear.

It's not going to happen. You can buy all the forged/cryogenic **** you want, it is still smaller than a 12 bolt/9 inch and it is not going to hold. $600 my *** that is the price of a new auburn differential alone not including axles, ring and pinion, etc.

I curse this magazine for printing this article, now we will have an additional 10 posts/week on "HPP said I could build my 10 bolt and now it's broke what do I do?!"

you're never going to break the 10bolt......... if you never put the power to the ground.

otherwise, you can snap it like a twig. its just too damn small. the case is too weak. to replace either of thoes, is to replace the entire rear.

Dumb *** magazine article. Obviously, they don't have a 500+ rwhp stick car with a set of 28 inch slicks to test their " built 10 bolt" in..... if they did, that article never would have made it to print.

It just ain't gonna happen. The parts are just too damn small to handle the power to go fast!

Im pretty sure there have been countless people to attempt to build up their 7.5 inch 10 bolts only to find out its a lost cause but i would still like to read this article. Can someone post a link that actually leads to a readable article?

I have seen countless scores of people who have thought they could build their 10 bolts up to handle the power, only to end up with a pile of twisted metal. I agree, this article is going to give a lot of people false hopes. Bob

Well, at least paraphrase it and tell us what they did. Or turn it into a PDF and upload it. I'm sure I can figure out a way to host it.

I'm sure keliente is correct they are going to place the ring and pinion next to John Wayne's head the freezer for a few days.

Alas, curiosity has gotten the best of me, and I would like to know just what this magazine's "cure" is.
