oil leaking middle underneath? help!
I have I guess it is oil underneath the car from the driveshaft back. Looks like it is all over everything all the way back to the rear end. The rear end looks dry but something has oil all over the brake lines and everywhere esle it could sling. Any ideas. Where can you jack up a Z28 on the rear to get a better look. I don't want to mess up anything jacking the car up. The oil is black it appears from dirt or something. It is a mess.

First question in the FAQ.

If you don't feel comfortable jacking the car up then you should find help or take the car to someone else to have it fixed.

DO NOT go to the dealership, you will be regretting that. They will charge you all kinds of bullshit fees, $95 for the "dagnostic fee", plus about that much per hour after that. You could quickly have a $400 bill for the dealership cleaning the underside of your car
Take it to a reputable shop, you will be much better off.

Could be the rear seal on the tranny. Just had mine replaced the other day when they were dropping the gears in. Apparently it is somewhat common on F-bods.
And yes, do not go to a dealership. The local Chevy dealership hear wanted $6,500 to replace my clutch. (yup, I said $6,500) I have never done business with them, but I thought I might give them a chance since they are the local Chevy place....I have always heard they were somewhat shady, and now I know. I wouldn't call them to wipe my *** (I probably couldn't afford it).

I have a friend at the dealership and we do not have any other good mechanics around town. I have been to 4 other places and they messed up my vehicle. This mechanic is the only one who takes care of my vehicle without messing up something else along the way. I went yesterday and it was the tran. seal and pinion seal. The labor was around $300.00. Mechanics here in this town don't care about your vehicle.

that sucks...mine was a rearend seal as well but it was covered under the ext warranty, even though it was a pain in the *** for them to replace. the dealer claimed itll go out every 50k miles...but we shall see, i havent heard of this problem all that much
