A4's came with either 2.73 (GU2) or 3.23 (GU5), the codes are on the driver side door - believe the SS and WS6 got the 3.23's.

If you have 3.23's I wouldn't bother, not much of a difference - considered a torque converter?

Don't wanna sound dumb, but how much is a torque converter gonna help, and how do they work?

It'll help way more than gears. How do they work? Well, you know that sweet spot at 4,000 RPM when your car pulls really hard? It'll make your car do that instantly without waiting every time you get down on the gas.

Sounds good brother. I'm lookin' for that extra punch. The only kick I get is when it downshifts under 30mph. Above that it don't do jack.

A CONVERTER will make a bigger difference than gears will make. When ever you change out your gears for a higher numerical ratio they will only get weaker. You factory gears are, generally speaking, the most durable 10-bolt gears.

A swap from 3.23:1 gears to 3.73:1 gears will provide an additional 15.5% more torque to your rear wheels from increased torque multiplication. A higher stall torque ratio in a premium torque converter could add an additional 35% more torque at the rear wheels or more.

Search (here and yahoo/google) "stall torque ratio," a.k.a. "STR" and you'll see the light. Percision industries and Yank both make great converters, and I'm pretty sure both offer information on STR on their websites.

Thanks for schoolin' me here. I need answers like this. Just need to be pointed in the right direction. I'm just tired of not having the power I think the car should have.

Do you have any check-engine lights on? It should feel stronger towards the top of each gear instead of the bottom ("below 30 mph"). You car might just need a tune up.

No ses lights. The car has 24,000 miles on it but it is 5 years old. So a tune up might help. I'm talkin delco plugs and wires. That might help give me the boost.
Other than that the jet reprogrammer I've been using to up the rev limiter and shift points has helped a little. Hey, I'm sick of only getting power bellow 25mph. And even then might neck isn't that sore.

Or Copper NGK TR55s gapped at .055" and a set of Taylor wires?

Search these items while you're at it.

Do you really think those brands are gonna make a difference than delco's?

Preference mostly. I do know that a Cu plug will provide a hotter spark than an Iridium/Platinum plug, they just don't last as long.

The Taylor wires are going to be built better and could have less resistance than OEM wires.

I' not worried about the longer lasting ones. But I did hear the delcos run cooler.
