Default Ta girdle and stud kit question

I know this question has been asked alot, but I ordered the ta girlde and stud kit and was wondering about the stud kit. Can I do the stud kit in the driveway on jackstands or is that not a good idea? I dont have the tools to check for the lash on the gears or anything like that. Will I affect that at all by changing over to studs on the bearings? And what kind of oil should I use?

It will be fine. all the studs are are replacements for your bolts your differentail can't lose any backlash setting due to it's side to side with shims.
Just do one side then the other and make sure the caps go back same direction and side as they came off of.

Should I use loctite on the threads of the studs?

yes, use threadlocker, just do ONE bolt at a time and torque to the recommended spec, not that hard of an install

Do I have to remove the panhard bar to get to all this? I cant remember. Also should I use threadlocker on all the bolts including the ones that bolt the cover on? And also on the nuts that bolt the caps onto the studs? I want this to go as smoothly as possible and I want to know that I am doing it right.

Also...anyone got a suggestion on oil? What should I use?

whatever you want...75w90, 80w90 are fine...

Taking off the PHB makes the install more friendly but you don't HAVE to take it off. I never use loctite on a rear cover but that's just me.

no, you don't have to remove the panhard bar, although it is much easier if you do.

I use locker on all bolts, studs and stud nuts, it can't hurt. If you use the red or blue 222, 242 you should be ok.

Also, a bit of advice on the TA cover, use silicone, not the gasket. The gasket will leak. Also, before screwing in the preload studs (from outside) back them all the way out and get a little silicone on the threads, then thread them in, mine leaked in this spot (the first time) :}

Just take your time, you will do fine

Oh ya, how much oil. Do I open the stock oil fill plug and fill it up till it spills out of there, or do I fill it up till it spills out of the fill plug on the TA cover. Whichever is suggested, about how much oil is that so I know how much to buy?

I take out the side plug and the top TA plug. Fill into the top TA plug until it drips out of the side plug. It will take almost exactly 2qts with the TA cover
