It also said the

2.56 but that sounds like a lie

I betchya that 2.56's isn't bs
. GM did put 2.56's in some of their old cars (my '81 Z28 had a set of 2.56's in it!!
). Did you see the 1st gear ratio of that 6-speed auto!!
4.02:1!!!
2nd gear is 2.36:1 ..... that's almost as low as the 2.66:1 1st gear of the T56!!
You wouldn't really notice you've got 2.56's with that ratio, and then cruising on the highway would be like idling.
But as far as Z06, it's always been just a 6-speed manual offered in it. Now FYI, the C5 Z06 used the current Z51 gearing (2.97 1st gear) but now the C6 Z06 is using the standard T56 gearing (2.66 1st) ..... I think that was so they could pull the 3.7 second 0-60 mph in 1st gear alone!

Stock gears/ratios:
M6 - 3.42's w/2.66 1st gear = 9.097:1 "total ratio"
A4 - 2.73's w/3.06 1st gear = 8.354:1 total ratio
A6 - 2.56's w/4.02 1st gear = 10.291:1 total ratio
Stepped up to common ratios:
M6 - 4.10's w/2.66 1st = 10.906
A4 - 3.73's w/3.06 1st = 11.414
Now check THIS out:
A6 - 3.73's w/4.02 1st = 14.995!!!
That's nuckin' futs!!!!
