Default So I wanna install some gears....

4:10's to be exact. I dont take my car to track but maybe once after a new mod just to see how much faster it is. I dont have the money to buy a new rear end.....I know most of you will say save my money, but Im more interested in hearing from people who have installed gears in the stock rear...How long ya had em? Any thoughts, positive and negative

they will really wake up your car. you dont need a whole new rear-end either, but new bearings wouldnt be a bad idea. If you arent mechanically inclined, and know how to do very meticulous things, dont do your own gears. Take it somewhere professional to be done.

Ive got a guy who will do the install. But you read the horror stories online about people breaking their rear. Of course you never really hear the success stories....

I replaced my whole rear end once, and did my own bearings and gears and im 16, and was 15 when I did the bearings and such. But my grandpa also has a body shop so I had the resources and tools to do it correctly

I did my own gears several times in my old thirdgen. The last time I got a set of 3.42's from a friends fourth gen and swapped them right into mine. I all I replaced was the crush collar and the pinion nut. Used all the bearings over again. That was the only gear set I installed that was completley quiet. I call it a success.
