Default Whats this hose?

Whats the black hose that runs down the length of the torque arm? It looks like it goes up to the transmission. When I replaced my stock torque arm I had to re-adjust it and I crimped it in between a couple of those metal rails. But then like 5 miles down the road I threw a code. I think PO747-solenoid valve or something. The car also bogged way down. I would give it gas and like have to take it to 2500 RPM just to get it to move. I'm sure becuase I had crimped the hose. So I just took it out and ziptied it instead. Then the car ran fine. So bascily I'm just wondering what this hose is? My friend with a 98 TA said he didn't have that hose. Maybe its only on Automatics?

The code is "Pressure Control Solenoid Stuck On" don't know wht it means. You must have an auto as my M6 did not have that hose.

I'm not sure what's the offical name for the hose but I call it a breather hose, sounds like crimping the hose was the problem with your trans.

So basicly its just for air to go in and out of the tranny?

The hose is an over flow for transmission fluid. The hose is not crimped shut, its just held into the torque arm with the clips. That would not have caused an ses.

Gary it sounds like once CAlley zipped tied the hose the problem ( must have been crimped shut )went away, I still think the hose is a breather as wells as a overflow.

But I crimped it shut when I switched torque arms by relocating it. You can't run it along the spohn torque arm like it does on the stock one.

From what I've gathered about the solenoid getting stuck on, it can reset itself after the ignition is shut off. This seems to be more of a problem with '01+ cars with an aftermarket TC. I know of at least one '01 running a 3500 stall that switched to a different converter because of solenoid problems. Maybe one of those that have had this prob will reply....

It's a vent tube to relive pressure in the tranny as the fluid heats up. By crimping it closed the pressure in the transmission built up and probably cause the solenoid to stick in the open position due to the excess pressure, or it was just a phantom code caused by the excess pressure in the trans.
