Exclamation When do you need 33 spline axles?

I'm going to go into debt this winter and buy a Moser 12bolt with a 3.73 gear.

What is the deciding factor when you must go to 33 spline axles?

Right now I make just over 400 RWHP. Future plans will be either a bigger cube motor or a street turbo kit, HP goals are around 520 RWHP for either setup.

I don't drag race all that much, mostly a street driven car.

Your kidding right? From what I read on here, it seems like it's more prone to whine while going down the road, plus it's too new for my blood.

I'm also going with a new rear here soon. I've done lotsa research over the last year and it's a no brainer really. DLS 9" bulletproof and dead quiet compared to the Moser 12 bolt.

If I'm reading that calc right, I put in 600ftlbs, 2.66 first gear and 3.73 rear gear, I come up with 5357.

Should be fine with 30 spline since 1 axle can handle 6,200

The Moser $65.00 axle option when ordered with the Truetrac comes with a 10 year warranty on the axles. The warranty alone makes this a very attractive option. Bob

$65 isn't bad at all. What brands of rear gears are offered with the Moser 12bolt?

Motive, US Gears and Richmond are all available from Moser. US Gear seems to be the favorite. They are a good strong gear and are generally quiet. Bob
