I had my car up on a lift the other day and noticed a **** load of oil on the floor board, it was obviously coming from the rear pinion, slinging oil all over the T/A, Rear, and the Floor Boards.. I've never noticed drops on the ground, but then again, I park on a rough textured black top driveway every night, not a clean garage floor. The oil on the car was damp, not dried up and crusty. How big of a job is this? Do I have to drop my rear?

i thought i've read alot on here that if it doesnt drip on the ground you may just want to leave it. i know mine is wet back there, but i heard unless it is dripping down its not much of a big deal...

same here, a little moist but never dips on garage floor, I just clean it every couple months and check fluid level.

Thats just the thing, I dont know if its dripping on the ground or not, no way to tell were I park it every night... I wouldn't mind changing it ( I wanna service my rear anyways ) as long as I dont have to drop the whole rear end.

lay some newspaper under your car in your driveway at night, throw a few bricks on each corner of the paper...that should let ya know if it's dripping a lot.....i remember back in the day when i still had my stock 10bolt, it never leaked or anything, but when i would be really rip'n through the gears, the high RPMs would cause oil to come out of the pinion some and hit the driveshaft and sling all over the place, (it would hit my exhaust and smoke) it did it while it was on the dyno at wheel 2 wheel, and that's when we figured it out.....i cleaned my whole underside when i threw my 9" in, and i havent had a problem since!
