Default Return of the infamous driveshaft TINK

I had my driveshaft replaced under the TSB which specified to replace the aluminum one with a heavier steel one to solve the tink noise.

Well guess what. The friggin noise is back, and getting worse. It did go away when they installed the new shaft. I don't race the car.

I plan on going back to the dealer next month for some other things as well.

I've already had somebody suggest I get them to put an aluminum one back in. I was alost thinking of having a carbon fiber one installed. I just want the problem solved.

Any other ideas?

Thanks-

Kevin

Oh yeah, it's a 2000 TA Firehawk A4.

I assume that the tink noise is when you start forward or reverse from a dead stop? I would look at the U-joint too. I had a 4x4 make the same sound and would rumble at 70mph. The u-joint was worn.

You are correct. I also get the noise when the car shifts at full throttle.

The sound just bugs me, kind of like the "coast down rattle". <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />

Well all the cars do it, what are you worried about with the noise. Its caused by play in transmission and differential and is amplified by the fact that the driveshaft is hollow. No big deal normally.
