Do 4.10's pull harder than 3.42's all the way down the quarter mile?
I've been considering going to 4.10's but I have a couple of questions. Do 4.10's pull harder than 3.42's all the way down the quarter mile or do they pull really hard off the line and then fade off as you travel down the track? Also, will my trap speed increase or decrease? Any comments would be appreciated!
Thanks!
Thanks!

Well, I have always found that 4:10's pull harder in 1st and 2nd, but tend to fall out in 3rd and 4th(in an M6 that is). I have raced buddy's with 4:10's and similar mods on the street, and I always pull from 3rd+.

Depending on your level of mods, you might see an additional 2MPH with the 4.1's due to being in a higher RPM band (thus typically at a higher HP), but if you gave great traction I'd be surprised if you saw a gain of more than .15 in your ET.
The 4.1's will give you better G-forces up until ~660', then they are practically equal the remainder of the run. The 660' mark is just before the shift into 4th gear with the 4.1's. The pull will remain equal until about 170MPH, which is about the top of 5th gear with a 6800RPM limiter.
But, if you have real good traction, you're living on borrowed time if you have a stock rearend.

IMO, 4.10 gears will put a real smile on your face. And yes, they pull better all the way---especially drag racing! WJ. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
