Default 12 bolt strength

I can get a really good deal on a 12 bolt?
the question is can it handle 5 and 6k dumps

You will get a million different opinions on this. Here's mine. I had a 12 bolt, and a 9" in my Z/28, the 12 bolt first. The rear sung like a choir in church. I changed gears and ratios 3 times and the rear got loud each time after being beat on. I put a 9" in with 4.57's and a locker. I had no further problems with noise, other than the locker doing its thing. My rule is M6=9" or maybe the new S60. The auto cars don't seem to have as many problems with a 12 bolt, so if I had an auto, I might go with a 12 bolt.

My 12 bolt whines pretty good but I dump it on ET Streets at 5,500 and it's holding up.
