Differential fluid...mix?

Differential fluid...mix? Well, my differential seal is very slowly seeping and i bought some mobil 1 synthetic 75w90. I have no clue what was last used when i had my fluid changed at a shop, it was about 5 months ago. Would anything negative come from adding this synthetic to what is already in there...be it synthetic or not? Thanks
