Default Another working 3 channel ABS on a 9"

I installed my new 9" on Saturday. I bought the Moser housing and axles from Thunder Racing for $1000, then built my own center section using some new and some used parts. Of course, I was determined to keep the 3 channel ABS.

This is how I made it work: I bought a sprocket with 40 teeth for a 25 pitch chain and had it bored and pressed onto the yoke in place of the seal shield. 120 teeth (stock) / 3.00 (gear ratio) = 40 teeth. Obviously, this would be different for different gear ratio's. Anyway, we made a bracket to mount the stock sensor above the yoke. I would call it an L-bracket, but it's more like a ?-bracket. I adjusted it to have about .050" clearance between the sprocket tooth and the sensor and it works great!

Just thought some might be interested.

The only thing that is deterring me from the 9" is not having ABS. I do a little autox, so I need to have it. I just grenaded my 10 bolt and will be looking for something stronger in the next few months.

Pics would be awsome, cause I was gonna try to engineer a similar setup when I go 9 over the winter.

I would sell them, but the sprocket will be a different size for each rear end gears. Subsequently, the ?-bracket would have to be shaped a little different.

The only pic's are in my friends camera-phone and we're having difficulty retrieving them.

Wouldn't the teeth count just be a fuction of gear ratio?

I checked with McMaster-Carr and Motion Industries. Both had it, but Allied Bearing was the cheapest.

It's similar to part number 6793K21 on McMaster's website. $9.

The OEM reluctor has 120 teeth.

120 / gear ratio = required teeth on sprocket

Another one to prove people wrongs that say, "a 9 inch cannot have 3 channel abs very easily." Good work. My friend did this on his 9 inch about 5 years ago now and people do not believe how easy it is to do. It really is not that hard as you have figured out. Works like a charm and has held up for many years. Excellent work.

ABS gear teeth
GM 7.625 has 106, Dana 44 has 108, Ford 8.8 has 108, Dana 60 has 120. All have worked out fine with any ratio but pulling a signal off the pinion yoke is the best way to go. I'm trying to machine a B-car relucter ring but I don't think I can get the id large enough to press onto a yoke.

Got any pics?
What kind of air gap are you running also?

I think he is going to try to machine it to fit on he yoke instead. Doesnt sound like a bad idea as long as there is enough meat on it.

Yup, and it is ratio specific to the relucter ring.
