Default Adapting a 9" to a F-Body

I picked up a 9" today for free. I need to know what all needs to be done to the rearend to make it fit and function under my f-body. Help is appreciated.

It should bolt right in. You wilkl lose ABS and traction control though.

I assume you picked up an old Ford 9" and want to adapt it over?? You will need to get a torque arm to mount to it. Transfer over the spring perches, shock mounts, and lower control arm mounts. You will more than likely have to shorten the axles and housing also. You might as well replace the casing with a nodular iron one. Look at one of the recent posts about what a 380 rwhp car can do to the stock 9" housing...happened to my friend's also. The center is probably an open differential, so you will want a locker, spool, etc....of your choosing. I am sure I am missing something, but this will get you started. If you cannot do most/all of the fab work yourself it probably is not worth doing. Do a search, this has been covered before. Basically the only thing you will be keeping is the housing and possibly the gears.

This has been discussed many times, if the 9" is not specifically made for an fbody forget it. The cost to modify the housing and third member is difficult and cost prohibitive.
