Clunking noise

Clunking noise Today after leaving my folks place I had something strange happen to me while driving the old Z. A little ways down the road I got on her really good, but when it downshifted there was a very pronounced clunk that I felt that seemed to come from the rear.
I have never felt this before. About a year ago I had the rear wheel bearings replaced. Besides the car seems to run fine when driven normal. What else could be causing this, a bad rearend? I don't think its the tranny though.
