Default Pain in the ***

okay so i have the whole rear end apart in my shop except for taking ou the pinion. and there is still no visible reason that. "A" only two tires spin during a burnout when they want and "B" why my car shakes ridicuaously bad during a burn out like so bad i think the wheels could pop off and my **** explode... lol im looking at all the worm gears looking at the axles pinion ring gear you name it it looks to be in good shape. the rear end doesnnt make noise or vibrate until you do a burn out this is pissin me off i cant figure it out.

All that vibration is called wheelhop. Wheelhop has nothing to do with the internals of your rearend. I suggest you put it back together. You need to upgrade your rear suspension components to combat the wheelhop your experiencing.

i agree with the above post. The "wheel-hop" you are feeling is caused by your suspension......or lack thereof. Upgrade your suspension with some Lower Control Arms, Panhard Rod, springs, and shocks. A torque arm wouldn't hurt either. I just have BMR LCAs and PHR and i dont have wheelhop anymore.

If it is wheel hop - Check the pinion angle, and put on some LCA relocation brackets also. Just my .02...

Wheel hop can be really bad. Does it drive normally otherwise? What about spinning the wheels in water, the same problem but greatly reduced? If so its probably wheel hop. Any amount of slop in the LCA bushings and wheel hop goes from annoying to ridiculous. A loose torque arm or bad transmission mount an contribute to it as well. As you tighten components up the hop frequency goes up and the jarring reduces. When its tight enough in all affected components, the wheels just spin rather than hop.

yeagh i drives fine otherwise!! thats whats really weird, okay i just took the car out and had someone watch the rear end for the first time. and all to my dismay it was WHEELHOP!! ahh damnit, so it does it sometimes in drive and really really bad in reverse. so know that i know my rearend is okay!! YOU KNOW IT NEVER DID THIS UNTIL I PUT A NEW TRANS MOUNT IN MY CAR!! THIS MAKES SENSE THE OLD ONE HAD BEEN BROKEN IN TWO!, so whats the best way to fix this??? just lca arms and a new panhard bar?? anything else????

Panhard bar really won't affect it. The LCAs have the biggest effect. Are you saying that prior to the trans mount, it did not hop? Sounds odd that it does it now if that's true.

Wheelhop can also be caused by worn shocks or worn LCA bushings. My car with completely stock suspension had no wheelhop.

I don`t wnat to sound like a jerk, but why are you doing all these burn outs? The object is to not spin out. If you are doing these on street tires, then your only burning your tires up and wasting your money. There is no need to heat up street tires, only drag tires.

okay welll its not like i am going around burning out everywhere, how it all happened was i was racing and evo 8 and 99% of the time from a dead stop if i just punch it my car doesnt burn out for longer like 3 or 4 feet then just pure traction, but when i was racing a week or so ago my car all of a sudden just started to shake "wheel hop" all theseb other burnouts i have done since have been in the name of science!

dont trip speak your mind. i know i do when people do stupid ****. but yeah i have maybe done 2 or 3 intentional burnouts the whole time ive had the car. and at the track i dont stage i roll around the water box and just run. i get traction i dont need slicks..

Default get hotchkis lower control arms

wheel hop will be gone..other than that, an adjustable torque arm would be good as well.

yeah if these stock units do not fix it im gonna have to spend a little money and get after market parts, i was reading in one of my catelogs on global west and they have a torque arm, but you have to drill into the car to install it!!! i dont want to drill into my 99 , maybe if it was my 74 camaro but not my new one Fu&# that! but yeagh there torque arm is adjustable, which is pretty sick!

If you are concerned about noise and/or problems with poly bushings you don't need them to solve your problem. Just check out this link for where I modified my stock arms. Look at the bushings photos, just make sure you order the full rubber ones. They are actually quite stiff despite what people think. the gapped ones are much softer. Moog replacements availabe at parts places are the same as the LE1 GM bushings everyone raves about. They are also quite cheap.
