Default 9" Moser whine

Has anyone installed a Moser 9" and ended up with a very noticeable whine from about 55mph and up while accelerating from the time you installed it. No whine on decel or coast. Its quiet as they come until I get to 55mph. If you had this how did you correct it? Thanks

We do four to five heat cycles to help keep the rears quiet, and then suggest taking it easy on them for 500 miles. Once you have whine like you are experiencing, it is hard to get rid of it. You could try having somebody readjust the ring and pinion, as it may help out. Usually once gears get a wear pattern worn into them, adjusting them to make them quieter is hard to do. Bob

I just hit 500 miles on them after babying them since the install with short trips to and from work.I followed the recommended break in procedures to the letter.

Like Bob said Once gears start whining and been driven for a while it is next to impossible to quiet down.
Most gear whine is from the setup not being spot on . Some gear whine is the gears themselves.

I have the stock rearend. I did a few burnouts and stuff and one day I mashed it at 25 and when it went into 1st gear I had this clunking like sound and so I drove it some more. A few weeks later I started hearing a whining noise when driving even at low and high rpms. So I figured what the hell, I will just do a complete rearend rebuild. I went from 3.23 ratio to 3.73 (A4) I ordered the deluxe rebuild kit on thunder racing along with all new bearings and the whole works. I had a local college do the install. Well, the first time they put it all together the teacher didn't check with the classes work on one thing... that was the crush sleeve being crushed... They had it hand tight basically with a ratchet. He put an impact on it and I still had gear whining noise. It wasn't nearly as noisey though. They took it apart again and he said he wanted to do something with the shims. So after the first rebuild I drove it anyway with a little noise cause it's my daily driver. After around 200 miles on it, I brought it back the next week and they did the shims. Now the gears arent noisey like they were before, but when I decelerate or let off the throttle I hear a whining noise. I didnt know if this set in a different wear pattern or what. They said the backlash and everything was perfect.. along with pinion depth, etc. One thing - When the car is cold and I put it into gear I dont hear much drivetrain noise, but when it's warm and if i were to go in and out of reverse/drive I hear a "clunk" I have both new u joints installed, and someone said it may be a tranny mount or something. Any tips or ideas? I havent had the time to really inspect it. I didnt know if that would be rearned or drivetrain, etc. Let me know what u guys think
