Bought a Y3000 used. Had Mike inspect and restall it to 3200 ... around 17,000 miles and 175 passes on it so far.

6,000 miles on my ST-3500 and still going strong, in the hot desert heat of Nevada.

I've had the VIG3200 in my wife's car for over 2 years now, 40,000 miles on it, about 250 1/4 passes, and a lot of street driving. NO issues yet. Cross my fingers.

Vig 3200, 15,000 hard miles!! It was my first mod. Holding up great. Thinking about upping the stall, or experimenting with something else that would be better with the nitrous.

Well, it looks like quite a few people on here have put some miles on some of the most popular of ‘verters. Glad to see there holding up!
Also, we are getting together a good data thread for people to use when questioning the longevity of a particular ‘verter. Let’s keep it going...

Re: Let’s talk about aftermarket TC lifespan...(kind of a poll)
I was the proud owner of an ST3500 that began to chatter badly after almost exactly 10k miles and 8 months. I was told by phone that low line pressure was the cause and to send it in for inspection. Then I sent it to Mike and he told me that after cutting it open he found that "extremely high" line pressure caused the clutch to warp in the converter, which he also said was not covered in his warranty. All in all I got out of the deal pretty cheap unless you include my time and labor for pulling a transmission twice. I had the converter fixed and upgraded and so far I am happy with the new one which is supposed to be roughly an ST3700 according to Mike.

Vig 2800- 40k miles and 200 passes down the track with no problems.
Yank PT4500- around 20k miles and 100 passes at the track with lockup problems and chattering from the moment I put it on. Ed Wright programming seems to fix the lockup problems but still get some chattering.

Re: Let’s talk about aftermarket TC lifespan...(kind of a poll)
I am the 3rd owner of the Vigilante in my car.
-Vig 2800 purchased in '99. Original owner put 24K miles on it.
-2nd owner had it for a short while before he had it retooled to a 3200. Not sure on the exact number of miles he put on it, but it was daily driven and I know his daily commute to work was about 70-80 miles round trip.
-Since it's been on my car I've put at least 20K on it.
So it's been in a daily driver since '99, has AT LEAST 44K miles on it, has always been run with a transcooler, and has a countless number of passes on it. Gotta love the trusty Vig! **knock on wood**

We’ve really got a great thread going here. This should provide good solid answers to anyone looking for a ‘verter that is concerned about longevity. The more who reply, the better it will be.

Re: Let’s talk about aftermarket TC lifespan...(kind of a poll)
Don't have a converter yet but think I know why the high stall Yanks with Kevlar clutchs are chattering. I had an '88 Suzuki GSXR-750 that I put a Kevlar clutch in. This is a wet clutch just like whats in a converter. Anywho, from the time I installed it to the time I eventually sold it, (DP for my new '95 Z28) I had to constantly adjust my clutch lever, due to at idle grab causing the bike to creep forward even when clutch lever was in all the way!!! If I stopped the creeping completely, clutch would slip at high rpm. If set on the tight side you had better be sitting on the bike when you start it or you might be picking it up off the ground after it rides it's self off of the side stand!!! The morale to this story is Kevlar belongs on bullet proof vest and race cars. I will NEVER buy a 'verter with a Kevlar clutch, don't trust it for problem free operation!!

Re: Let’s talk about aftermarket TC lifespan...(kind of a poll)
I had a PT-2400 with 6000 miles, no problems! Recently changed to a ST-3500, less than a 1000 miles, must evaluate.

Vig3200 in the car for about 6,000 miles with nothing but great performance in every way.
Going to a TP4200 this weekend hoping for a little more performance edge.

Re: Let’s talk about aftermarket TC lifespan...(kind of a poll)
Vigilante 3200 ~30k miles. One of the only parts on my car that hasn't broken yet.
It seems to be looser now, flashing around 4300 on motor.

Re: Let’s talk about aftermarket TC lifespan...(kind of a poll)
Yank 3000 still going after 20K plus.
No problems except this model TC does not pump much fluid in 4th OD and will sometimes overheat going up hills unless I have the fans on to get more air thru the trans cooler.

Re: Let’s talk about aftermarket TC lifespan...(kind of a poll)
2nd owner of A Vig.3200 probably 20K miles..including towing a jet ski most of summer...
Has unlocked (edit: on the highway)a couple times this summer when the temps got real hot towing. Probably time for a fluid change.
Otherwise all good.
