Stay away from richmonds..super noisy..I had 3.73 richmonds..nightmare for noise..went back to 3.42 stockers. Also had 4.10 gm motives..quiet in my 97 and noisy in my 99 ..bad noisy.I have heard strange are pretty quiet and superior gm and some guys have good luck with motive gm..I have personally given up on my joke of a rearend and am waiting to get a 12 bolt next year maybe.

Stick with either Origional GM's from the dealership or US Gear(Strange). I had a set of Motives and they would not roll out a good pattern and whined badly. I sent them back under warranty and went with a set from US Gear. They are quiet. No whine..

How about SLP gears ? What's the success rate ? Rumor tells they really are made by the current GM OEM supplier as SLP claims. Don't know if they come through the same manufacturing process though.

The SLP gears are on a severe back order. They are supposed to be pretty good. I am not sure who is making them. I heard they are a OEM GM gear. I would rather buy them from the dealer and not have any worries.

I was told that the richmond are noisy, but stronger than GM, Motive, and Strange. The tooth angle is made for more strength and less noise reduction. I am on my richmond 3.42 for 10K miles, drag radial with 150 shot of nitrous and no problems. The only thing that scares me is the differential breaking.

Well guy who sold me my super noisy richmonds put them in his car ,its a supercharged lt1 with et streets...just ook it to track and blew the richmonds all to hell..stronger..don't think so..noisy..they are the worst I have ever heard they should be ashamed to sell them on street cars..for pure racing maybe..richmond sucks..we had them exactly in spec..we phoned richmond..tried different rear end fluid..didn't try the new redline 240 weight though..I even sold off my torque arm and switched to 1le control arms thinking that stuff was transmitting the rear end noise..went back to my 3.42 stock and much quieter..Richmonds suck big bananas...!!!
You have been warned..!!! <img border="0" alt="[kaboom]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_bomb.gif" />

What gear ratio were you running? I was told that lower gears are easier to break? I getting a new rearend in time.
