U-Joint! What size?
I have a Strange 12 bolt rear and a Coleman HD drive shaft andI broke the U-joint.
The caps on the side of the U-joint that sits in the rear yoke is bigger around. Likewise the side that sits in the drive shaft is smaller around. The joint is a Spicer U-joint and has the numbers SD 703 stamped on one side and A5 on the other side. No store can cross reference it. I'm thinking the Yoke is a 1350? Could that be so? I was thinking this because of the bigger size caps needed. Anyone know a way to figure out what U-joint I need?
On a side note, how did the DS handle the break? Any damage to it or anything else?
5500 RPM dump with a 100 Wet shot off the line on slicks. The u-joint did not come all the way apart as you can see. The Torque arm bent and that took out the joint. My drive shaft was scratched up a little from the safety hoop but a little re-balance fixed that.
I'm installing my inline fuel pump this weekend (finally!) then I can do 150 shots off the line. Oh! Spohn is going to up-grade the old style TA for the new one for $125.00 I think that sounds like the way I need to go for now.
Here is what he wrote me at the new arm...
"I have a guy running the new set up on a car running 8.50's. He runs
OSCA and NMCA Real Street. The cars does 126 MPH in the 1/8 mile!
he's cutting 1.27 60's. I almost fell over when he sent me pics.
This baby will laugh at anything you throw at it.
Steve"
I like his stuff, I know some has had problems but for the most part Steve is pretty good to deal with.
