3:42???? I have a 2000 WS6 with the 6-speed and the code list on the driver door says GU6 which I was told means 3:42 rear axle. It does not feel like a 3:42. I had a 98 SS with the 4l60 and I find it hard to compare an auto to a 6-speed. If I put it in 6th at 65mph the rpm's go way down to like 1300. Is this normal? At this rate I cannot use 6th unless I am going 75+. The car wnats to creep on up to about 80 before it feels normal. Pontiac says that the standard gear is a 2:73 with an option for a 3:23 or a 3:42. I can't imagine what a 2:73 must feel like... Sam

Re: 3:42???? All M6 cars have 3.42's. The A4 cars have 2.73's, unless the A4 car had the "Performance Axle" option which made it 3.23's with an aluminum driveshaft.
I don't know what the rpm's were at 65mph in 6th gear, but I do know at 2000rpm's in 6th gear with 3.42's you're right about 90mph. Prolly 88mph to be exact.
