Gears without programing?

Gears without programing?
My pinion seal is leaking pretty bad and I figured I might as well put a set of 3.73's in while I've got it apart. The problem is I'm moving from viginia to Tennesee in three weeks and I only have the money to get the gears because of the cost of moving(U-huals are expensive). Would it be O.K. to put the gears in and drive the car about 500 miles without programiing the speedo? I'm not worried about how it performs I just want to know if it will get from here to there without causing any problems. Thanks
BTW, You guys got a great site here very informative

I put 4.10's in my M6 02 SS and drove with the speedo unprogrammed for about 2000 miles. I even made a couple 200+ mile trips etc. Having the speedo wrong won't hurt anything. With my 4.10's my speedo said I was going about 10-12 mph faster than I really was. You could techincally drive forever with a un-corrected speedo and you'll fine.

I did that with a ABS/TCS car and only noticed higher speedo readings and more mileage to odometer. If it's ABS only I'd assume ABS is not working, but the car still shifts right and there are no other issues.

I had a 94 Z28 A4 and I put 4.10's in it. I never adjusted the speedo in the car either. My goal with that car was light to light racing. Man what a hole shot that car had =)
If you change the gears in your A4 it will drive fine.

Yea that kinda sucks. This car isnt a daily driver though. I just need to get it to Tennessee. I'm gonna get it programend once I get settled in out there.
